This week we are learning:
Third grade will begin a STEM Careers Research project. I won a grant from AT&T and the Walton Education Foundation. I purchased books about STEM careers. Students will be selecting a career of interest to them, reading the book, completing a graphic organizer and then creating a PowerPoint presentation about their career. They will share their presentation with the class at the end of the year. Students will login to ClassLink and use the Office 365 app, which allows them to make PowerPoints online (even from home!).
Writing: opinion writing essay
Science: Animals and plants adapt to the seasons and changing environment
STEM lessons - using STEM kits purchased by the Bay Boosters a few years ago, students will explore a variety of STEM challenges, 1 per day for 5 days. These are great problem solving and team building activities.
Upcoming graded work:
Mon: science quiz
Tues: STEM research graphic organizer due
My class watches this YES I CAN (click for link) video and we use that as our class motto! We work on being positive and telling ourselves "yes I can!"
